Grey’s Anatomy Could Be Here for Years to Come
Amidst a season frought with panic over what might happen with the future of Grey’s Anatomy, a pair of new interviews by The Hollywood Reporter have shed some light on the idea that Grey’s Anatomy could be on our screens for years and years to come.
Mark Gordon has been a producer on Grey’s Anatomy since the very beginning, and he’s a man who is very busy within the Hollywood industry. Yet, when asked by THR if he’d like to see an enddate set for Grey’s, he responded by saying “I would like Grey’s Anatomy to run until I drop dead.” He took into account the fact that he’s not actually working behind-the-scenes on the show day-to-day like series creator Shonda Rhimes and executive producer Betsey Beers, but that he would still like to see the show continue.
Perhaps more interesting, however, is the interview THR did with the president of ABC himself, Paul Lee. Lee was brought in as the head of the network only last year, but has already found much success with his new series Once Upon a Time, Revenge, and Suburgatory. With Desperate Housewives ending this season, and having set that end date last summer, Lee was asked if there was a similar plan in sight for Grey’s Anatomy, which has been on the air for the same eight years. Lee responded:
Oh no. I hope Grey‘s lasts another decade.
These two quotes, coupled with the fact that Rhimes herself has stated that she sees no end in sight for the series, would seem to suggest that we will have new Grey’s Anatomy for years and years to come… but at what cost? Who will still be with the series if it continues to last, as Lee wishes, another decade? Ever since its inception, Grey’s Anatomy has been compared to ER, comparisons that didn’t really seem warranted – until perhaps now, when a revolving door cast would appear to be more likely than ever, as ABC hopes to be in business with the doctors of Seattle Grace Mercy West for years and years to come.
How does this news make you feel?

i hope greys lasts for decades n decades but i hope mer and der dont leave.. the show wont ever be the same without them..
I completely agree. I would love for Grey’s to last a lot longer, but not if Patrick and/or Ellen leaves; it just wouldn’t be the same. =)
