Amid quickly spreading rumors that Callie and Arizona will be getting married at the end of Grey’s Anatomy‘s seventh season, news has emerged that the show has cast the roles of Arizona’s parents, Colonel and Barbara Robbins. The roles will be filled by Dennis Ardnt and Judith Ivey, respectively. TVGuide also reports that Callie’s father will also be returning to the show – presumably for the same episode – and this time, his up-to-now unseen wife will be joining him, in a role that is still being cast. Though some speculate the parents could be rushing to Seattle for a tragedy of sorts (the musical episode certainly seems to be centered on some kind of tragedy), it does seem more likely that, instead, a wedding is in the works for the two lovebirds who have been struggling to come to terms with new developments in their relationship this season. Sara Ramirez does reveal that the musical episode, airing March 31, revolves around ”a life-altering event that [allows Callie] to process why her life with Arizona is worth fighting for.”
