Well Scandal Gladiators, we did it! Through our incredibly devoted viewing of the first season of Scandal for the seven weeks it was on the air – pretty much the same exact audience watched every episode of the season – we have shown ABC that we want more Scandal and they have given it to us, with a 13-episode season two order, to begin airing in September 2012. But with the four months that will pass between the end of the first season and the beginning of the second, we must gather together to spread the word and make Scandal‘s presence known, so that the show returns stronger than ever in the fall, paving the way for a bright future for one of television’s best and brightest new series.

But how do we do that, exactly? It’s easy: spread the word. Word of mouth is one of the most powerful forms of advertising, so simply talking to everyone you know about Scandal will help drum up more interest in the series. Also helpful is the fact that the series’ first season has been released on DVD as of Tuesday, June 12 – several months ahead of its second season debut. Not only that, but with just seven episodes comprising the first season, the set will be remarkably cheap. Purchase the set for yourself, and lend it out to everyone you can get interested in Scandal. Perhaps purchase a second “Scandal: Season One” set for a friend. Get the discs out there and let people actually see how great Scandal is, never forgetting to remind them that there is more to come this fall on ABC.

Of course, there’s another option as well: hold your very own Scandal marathon. The summer months are long and riddled with holidays, such as Independence Day, and there’s not much in the way of televised entertainment, so perhaps organize a get-together with you and your friends for an evening of Scandal. The first season is short enough that you could easily watch the entire season in the span of an evening (with seven episodes averaging 43 minutes each, it would take a mere five hours to watch the entire first season) to get people undoubtedly hooked on the show.

The bottom line is: Let’s get Scandal out there. With the second season not due to premiere until September, that leaves several months to spread the word, hold viewing parties, and get people hooked. As Gladiators ourselves, we already know how amazing Scandal is, so why not share that with the rest of our world to let them in on it as well? It will do nothing but help our new favorite show live longer and become greater.
